FAQ

How can I request inspection copies of Macmillan LanguageHouse materials?

Inspection copies are for teachers who are planning to have 30 or more students purchase the text if it is suitable for the class. Teachers may request inspection copies through our website, go to the product information page and click "Inspection Copy Request". Or contact us by phone, fax or email. Please note that under certain circumstances, MLH reserves the right not to supply inspection copies of certain materials.

Where can I purchase Macmillan materials?

We are happy to accept orders placed through your local bookstore, bookseller, including online booksellers. For a list of our partners please visit (http://mlh.co.jp/static/order).

Which ISBN number should I use when ordering? Why do some titles have two different ISBN numbers?

Many Macmillan materials have special Japan editions, including Japanese glossaries, Japanese wordlists, or Japanese grammar explanations in the back. When ordering Macmillan materials in Japan, please use the ISBN number beginning with 978-4-7773 or 978-4-89585 (where applicable).

Also, the world is changing from 10-digit to 13-digit ISBN system. All of the ISBNs in our catalogues and on our website reflect the new 13-digit ISBN numbers. The core section of the ISBN has not changed. For example:

X-XXXXX-XXX-? -> ???-X-XXXXX-XXX-?
English Upgrade 1 Student Book: 4-89585-411-6 -> 978-4-89585-411-5

If you have any questions about the ISBN number, please contact Macmillan LanguageHouse.

I am interested in materials that I see on the www.macmillanenglish.com website, but they are not on the local www.mlh.co.jp

Materials which are not on our local website or in our local catalogue are not stocked in Japan. We are only able to provide inspection copies to teachers of the materials on our local website. However, if you would like to purchase materials which are not on our local website, you can order them through Macmillan LanguageHouse. All of these sales are non-returnable and it will take anywhere from one to two months to get your stock to Japan. If you are interested in any titles which are not stocked in Japan, please contact Macmillan LanguageHouse directly for pricing and ordering information.

I don't live in Japan, but I'm interested in some Macmillan materials. What can I do?

Please contact your local Macmillan representative. You can find their contact information on the 。Macmillan English Worldwide.

For materials that are produced and sold only in Japan, we cannot send samples outside of Japan. If you are interested in purchasing these materials, there are some Japanese bookstores with overseas locations who could handle your order, like Kinokuniya and Asahiya. Please check with one of these bookstores in your country.

I'm interested in publishing. How can I publish with Macmillan LanguageHouse?

Macmillan LanguageHouse publishes materials made in Japan for Japan. In order for us to consider your materials, we ask that you send us your proposal. Please see our Publishing Guidelines for details.
